Traditionally, public policy analysis and management research was mainly led by trained and credentialed experts with participants and key stakeholders primarily serving as research subjects or informants.
Moreover, the backgrounds and experiences of the researchers themselves did not often reflect those impacted by the research. As the field evolves, more inclusive practices have emerged and many organizations, including APPAM, now recognize the value of increasing the number of professionals from underrepresented groups contributing to the field. We encourage submissions that demonstrate how the inclusion of diverse voices and perspectives in all phases of policy analysis and management will strengthen the field while making our work product better and more relevant.
Conference sessions will be organized into policy areas. View them here. For more details on the events and the full conference schedule, please view our Online Program. All attendees are given the opportunity to read the code and agree to abide by it as a condition for registration.

Over the past half century, there have been multiple policy efforts to address racial inequities across education, housing, environmental quality, health, income support, and other areas of social policy. The design, implementation, and effects of these policies have been a regular subject of policy analysis.
In this plenary roundtable, speakers will assess what we have learned about what has and has not worked to promote racial justice across these areas. They will describe how or whether the lessons of prior policy analyses have informed subsequent policy development and discuss what lessons those analyses offer for the future of initiatives to address racial justice.
