Time warner wireless router setup

Time Warner offers cable network service called Roadrunner which connects to a modem in your home through cable wiring. Cable boasts significantly higher Internet speeds than broadband or dial-up service, but it is filtered through a hub of users, which means a cable Internet connection may provide slower service during times of heavy Internet use. A network switch does not boost cable Internet speeds, but it does provide additional hard-wired Internet connections for your home network.

Read the network switch manufacturer's specifications, warnings and directions before connecting it to an electrical outlet or to your Time Warner Roadrunner Internet modem. Connect the Ethernet cable from the outgoing port on the modem to your wireless router. If you do not have a wireless router, or if your modem is your wireless router, use Ethernet cables to connect the modem to the incoming port on the network switch. Attach the Internet connection to the modem first, then to the wireless router, the network switch and the various computing devices in your home.

Thanks for all the input!! Update: So after bridging my router, which took like 2 hours, I still ended up with the same result.

Does this mean I have to get like more download speed? What internet package do you have and what speed are you getting?

TheMusketeer said:. I resetted the modem and also called them they always do the same thing , and both wirelessly and wired I get the the speed I paid for.

However, I know maybe tomorrow or later I will be getting really crappy speeds. Do you know why this happens? It's really annoying. Unfortuanetly TWC crappy network! You can always schedule an appointment and have a tech check it out. If nothing wrong with indoor equipment, have him call in a plant job checking the outside equipment. To see if theres a problem with outside equipment in your area. Last edited: Aug 31, So I call and say I need a plant job, and they will know what I am talking about right?

Will it be for free? But I had them come 2 times already. Every time they come the internet is fine. It is when they leave that the problem begins. That is why this is so frustrating. This is why you need to start doing your own troubleshooting.

Try another modem, try another router. Get rid of the gateway Write down what times it occurs Look around you Could be a silly thing causing it. Went to an apartment complex and at Am every morning mon-fri the whole apartment complex's cable would crash What does this even mean? I've worked for 3 major cable companies and have never herd of a "plant job" What you're trying to tell the OP is that if the tech comes out be sure he checks inside and outside.

Most techs will do the right thing and make sure everything is right. You must log in or register to reply here. All the does is route this subnet, no NAT, dhcp, firewalling, or anything is done on the modem. Its not a big request or anything, so im not sure why you had trouble with it in the past. Keep in mind the business class support desk is much different then the home user one.

Actually what I ended up doing was to dumb it totally down, time Warner blocked access to do that for some reason so I had to raise hell, and then I took the mini-pci wireless card out of the thing to make sure it didn't get activated on some reset.
